Which tool to use
- Counting and structure: the Word Counter & Content Analyzer for live counts, sentence and paragraph lengths.
- Ease of reading: the Readability Checker for six formulas and the hardest sentences.
- Length and balance: the Content Length Analyzer for main-content length, words per section and comparison with your own targets.
- Vocabulary: the Keyword Frequency Analyzer for every repeated word and phrase; for specific keywords, the on-page Keyword Density Checker.
Editing a draft with these tools
Paste the draft into the length analyzer to check it's within your brief and that no section dominates; run the readability checker and fix the five hardest sentences; use the frequency analyzer's 2- and 3-word view to confirm the draft covers the subtopics a reader expects, not just the headline phrase.
These checks are especially useful for content that will carry a link. Publishers accept well-edited guest posts more readily, and a link in genuinely useful text has clearer context — see guest posting, contextual backlinks and contextual backlinks explained.
Frequently asked questions
Is there an ideal word count or keyword density?
No. Search engines don't reward a particular length or density. Use these tools to meet your own brief and to catch repetition, not to hit a number.
Do the readability scores work in other languages?
The formulas were designed for English. Counts work for most languages that separate words with spaces.
Is my text stored?
No. All four tools process text in your browser.
