SERP Snippet Preview
Type a title, meta description and URL to see them together as a search result — on desktop or mobile, in light or dark mode — with pixel-width meters that update as you edit.
How to use the SERP Snippet Preview
Enter the title
Start with the words a searcher most needs to see.
Write the description
Summarise the page and give one concrete reason to click.
Add the URL and site name
The URL is shown as a breadcrumb-style path, as many results display it.
Switch device and theme
Check both layouts, then copy the finished title and description as HTML tags.
What it checks
- Title width
- Measured in pixels with Arial 20px against an approximate budget for the chosen device.
- Description width
- Measured with Arial 14px against an approximate two-line (desktop) or longer (mobile) budget.
- Truncation
- Text beyond the budget is cut at a word boundary with an ellipsis, as results commonly do.
- URL display
- The host and path shown as a breadcrumb, with the site name above it.
Interpreting the results
The preview is a close approximation of a standard organic result — not a screenshot of any particular search engine. Meters turn amber as you approach the budget and red when you exceed it.
Budgets are estimates: about 580px for a desktop title and 920px for a desktop description. Real layouts change, differ between search engines and devices, and titles or descriptions may be rewritten based on the query. Use the preview to make sure the important words appear early rather than to hit an exact number.
Detected marks facts read directly from what you provided. Guidance marks general recommendations based on those facts — rules of thumb, not guarantees or search engine requirements.
Practical guidance
The preview is most useful when you compare versions. Write two or three candidate titles, check which keeps the key message visible on mobile, and pick the clearest — not necessarily the longest that fits. A realistic example: “The Complete and Comprehensive 2026 Buyer's Guide to Choosing the Best Wooden Garden Sheds” is cut off after “Best” on desktop; “Wooden Garden Sheds: 2026 Buyer's Guide | Example Co” fits and says the same thing.
To check many titles or descriptions at once, use the Title Tag Checker and Meta Description Checker. When you're happy with a page's snippet and content, it's in a better position to benefit from promotion — see how our backlink packages and PBN backlinks work.
Limitations
- It simulates a generic organic result. Rich results, sitelinks, dates, ratings and other features aren't shown.
- Widths are measured in your browser with Arial; actual fonts and sizes vary.
- It can't predict when a search engine will rewrite your title or description.
Frequently asked questions
What's the exact character limit for titles?
There isn't one. Display is limited by pixel width, so narrow letters fit more characters than wide ones.
Will search engines always show my description?
No. They frequently generate their own snippet from page content when it better matches the search.
Why does my real result look different?
Search engines may add the site name, change layout by device and location, or rewrite text based on the query.
Is anything I type sent anywhere?
No. The preview is generated entirely in your browser.
